Ham Rong, meaning “Dragon’s Jaw”, is named after the shape of its rocky summit. Paths from the town centre climb through orchid and flower gardens, stone forests and viewpoints, finishing at the Cloud Yard with views over Sapa and towards Fansipan.
It is an easy half-day walk from the Stone Church and a good option for a free afternoon before or after a tour.
